Channel function: Klotho increases life span by cutting the glycan thread
The transmembrane protein Klotho aids the ion maintenance function of the TRPV5 channel by cleaving sialic acids from TRPV5 N-glycans, thereby exposing terminal lactosamines that anchor the channel in the cell membrane.
