GLYCO-GENE CHIP

Investigator's Responsibility

RNA Sample Requirements: 1. Ideally, 5 micrograms of total RNA should be provided at a concentration of 1 microgram per microliter in water (this amount allows for sample quality control, labeling, and any necessary re-preps). For most studies, 0.5 to 1.0 micrograms will be sufficient for labeling. However, as little as 10 - 100 nanograms may be sufficient with an alternate amplification protocol. Please see the Core E protocols or contact the Director for further information regarding RNA samples that are less than 5 micrograms.

2. RNA must be purified using an RNeasy column (Qiagen) and RNA Sample Preparation Protocol.

Experimental Design: Because it is not practical to develop one experimental design that is appropriate for all microarray experiments, several factors should be considered when designing microarray experiments for measuring gene expression changes in biological systems. Please see the PDF file for more information.

Shipping Instructions: 1. Package RNA samples on dry ice, or for shipment at room temperature, follow the protocol at http://www.biomatrica.com/product/rnaProtocol.html.

2. Send RNA samples by an overnight service [e.g. Federal Express, UPS, DHL, etc.] deliver to the address below. Do not have samples arrive on a Saturday or Sunday.

Note: No overnight delivery is needed if sending samples at room temperature . Again no weekend deliveries.

3. Call or send an e-mail to the Director and provide the airbill/tracking number.
